13-year-old Harrison Dadswell is currently starring alongside Jay McGuiness and Kimberley Walsh after being cast to play ‘Little Josh’ in the 1988 musical which is currently on at the Dominion Theatre in London’s West End.
Mr Dadswell who attends Sylvia Young Theatre school said: “When I heard I had been cast as Little Josh I couldn’t believe it – it felt awesome.
“There were several auditions before the finals and each time I got through to the next I was nervous but even more determined to keep going as I really wanted to be on the show.”
Mr Dadswell – who also featured in CBBC’s ‘The Dog Ate my Homework,’ at the age of ten, had to miss out on a family summer holiday just so he could attend rehearsals which began in August.
Prior to landing his West End gig Mr Harrison also appeared as Joe in Black Beauty at the Rose Theatre Kingston earlier this year.
He continued: “It [rehearsals] was pretty intense as I had to sing a few songs from the show with an American accent, act out scenes and perform a number of dance routines.
“Stepping out on the Dominion stage for the opening night performance was amazing.
“I love acting and being involved in the show makes me want to do even more so I hope to get more opportunities in the future.”
‘Big – The Musical,’ which also features Matthew Kelly and Wendy Peters runs until November 2019.
