Mears Care in Richmond has been recognised for the additional care services provided to vulnerable members of society.
Karin Beckett, Mears Branch Manager said: “We are delighted to get good in all areas and I am so proud of our team.
“All branch staff and carers have worked really hard to make the service better and I couldn’t be prouder, the comments in the report gave testament to the special care delivered to our Service Users.”
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspects and regulates care services in England.
The CQC report noted that residents were treated with respect, dignity and had their privacy respected.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests.
The service was well managed and Care plans were person-centred and reviewed regularly to reflect people’s changing needs.
The provider ensured systems and processes were in place to monitor the oversight of the service and drive improvements.
People’s views were regularly sought, and the registered manager actively sought partnership working.
Mears care extended services at its Dean Road and Sandown Court sites in order to provide personal care to people living in purpose-built flats in the borough and neighbouring areas.
This also involved offering a variety of care and support services for people who required further assistance – including people living with dementia, learning difficulties, mental health and physical disabilities.
In a routine inspection, the CQC assessed the team members that provided personal care to residents.
The service was assessed on the following five areas; whether the service is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. CQC awarded Mears with a ‘Good’ score in each of these categories.
Trina Oliver, Regional Director for Mears said: “Despite the lack of a national sustainable funding model for social care, with the right team and supportive partners such as Richmond upon Thames London Borough Council, good care can still be delivered.
“I congratulate Karin and all of our staff for this brilliant result.”
